And they're off...

So we got the call last wednesday that our son's visa was READY!! I was told to get on the phone and book a flight for as soon as we would want to travel. Wow, all of the sudden things were happening. We had waited and waited for that call and here I was booking two tickets to the Congo. It felt really surreal and super exciting all at the same time. I just kept thinking of our son coming off the airplane and I couldn't get Adam on a plane quick enough.

I am not traveling with Adam, but we are so happy that his mom Cindi was able to go with him. I really contemplated going but after much consideration we felt like it was best for me to stay home with Miles and Max. I'm really glad we settled on that, but my heart is really so torn. Two great places to be, my kids are in two places. In that case, how can a mothers heart not be torn.

We packed and ran around like crazy the past few days to get everything in order. Thank goodness Adam already had his immunizations done and his visa had come in the mail the week before.

They were each able to check two bags so we decided to check two suit cases but then also check two large Sterilite tubs full of donations for the orphanage. It has been such a blessing to be apart of people donating to those tubs. Thanks so much to everyone who helped us fill those with formula, vitamins, shoes, towels, clothes, and toys. We were able to take 100 lbs. of all those things!

Adam and his mom, Cindi boarded a plane this morning and will be landing in the DRC around noon our time on Monday. It will be around 6:30 pm Kinshasa time, so it won't be until the next day (tuesday) that they visit the orphanage and meet Ezra.

Meanwhile I am so blessed to have family and friends extend such amazing offers to help take care of me and the boys, pretty sure we wouldn't have to spend a day or night alone if we didn't want to!

Prayers are appreciated! I'll be posting updates as I hear from Adam and Cindi!

Thanks, Valerie. You are so wonderful, and I am so blessed to have you as my sister -- in every sense of the word.
